Your Google listing

Balayage* shows a strong overall health on Google Business Listing, with a score of 8.5 out of 10. This indicates good completeness and optimisation. Key findings include a live website link and phone number, and the listing being claimed and marked as open for business. The business should maintain these fundamentals while continuing to build photo content.

Strengths

  • ✓
Open statusYour listing shows the business as trading, so customers see accurate availability and Google treats the listing as live.
  • ✓
ClaimedYour listing is claimed, so you control what it says, you can reply to reviews, and edits suggested by the public come to you first.
  • ✓
NameYour business name is showing on the listing, so a customer searching for you by name finds you, and everything else on the listing hangs off it.

Top three opportunities

  • 1
Description lengthYour description gives a reader more than most listings here do, so a customer choosing between three of you gets more of your case than of theirs.
  • 2
Category fitYour categories cover this market better than the middle of the field, so you appear in most of the searches your competitors appear in.
  • 3
Photos on the listingYou carry more photos than most of this market, which gives a customer a real look at the work before they ring.

Your reviews

Balayage* shows solid online health with room to grow. The overall health score is modest, reflecting opportunity in customer feedback and review volume. Key findings indicate a growing base of reviews, a solid response rate, and a credible listing with a decent total review count. Building on these foundations can help further improve trust and visibility.

Top three opportunities

  • 1
Star ratingYour rating sits well below what customers here are used to seeing, and it is the first number they compare when two businesses look otherwise equal.
  • 2
Review confidenceYour rating and your review count together sit behind half the businesses here, so a customer weighing three listings has slightly less reason to trust yours.
  • 3
Response rateYou reply to some of your reviews but not most, so a customer scrolling your page finds long stretches where nobody answered.

$75 curls didn’t last the 20 minute trip home. Hair looked ok in the salon but when walking out it looked very yellow in the sunlight. Extremely expensive pricing. Wasn’t told that curls would cost more. Very disappointing.

Where you show up on the map

Balayage* shows moderate overall health in Google Maps with a health score of 2.6 out of 10, indicating limited visibility. The strongest signals come from ranking in several city-centre related keywords, while the borough performance has begun to improve but remains below mid-range. Focus should be on steady, local-visibility gains and keyword consistency.

Strengths

Your first one is close. Sort an opportunity below and it moves up here.

Top two opportunities

  • 1
Maps visibility across the city groupYou turn up across fewer of the surrounding suburbs than half the businesses here, so someone two suburbs over searching for your service is shown your competitors and never sees your name.
  • 2
Maps visibility in your own suburbYou show up in local Maps searches less often than half your suburb, so on a search from nearby you sit below businesses a customer would otherwise treat as equal.

Where customers find you

Balayage shows very high overall health with strong presence across key profiles. The two most important findings are outstanding Facebook and Instagram profiles, alongside a solid Fresha listing and directory presence. Opportunities exist in expanding Neighbourly and Yellow listings to broaden local reach, but core social and directory trust supports continued growth.

Strengths

  • ✓
Having a Facebook page at allWe found your Facebook Profile page, and the trail is strong enough that nobody would question it is yours - it is linked from something you own, or it dominates a search for your name.
  • ✓
Instagram ProfileWe found your Instagram Profile page, and the trail between you and it is unambiguous - it is linked from something you own, or it dominates a search for your name.
  • ✓
Fresha ProfileWe can see your Fresha Profile listing (https://fresha.com/balayage-welles-street-christchurch-yXQNE6) found via: Google search results.

Your Facebook page

Strengths

  • ✓
People following your pageYours is one of the largest local followings in this market.
  • ✓
Where your page link pointsThe link on your page goes to a domain that is yours, so a visitor who came for the photos leaves on your terms and the enquiry lands in your inbox rather than someone else's.
  • ✓
Recommendations on your pageYour recommendation count is one of the deeper collections in this market, and enough of it is written by other people that the page does some of the arguing for you.

Top opportunity

  • 1
What your page says about youYour intro runs to a line, shorter than most pages here, so it names the business without settling whether you do the particular job the reader came about or cover the suburb they live in.

06Your websiteMarketbase business report

Your website

Balayage* shows solid on-page health with a score of 6.1 out of 10, meaning room for improvement but reasonable stability. Key strengths include a valid favicon, a compact page size, a visible H1 tag, secure HTTPS delivery, and a relevant meta description. The most important opportunities are improving the meta description, title tag length, page speed, and reducing render-blocking resources.

Strengths

  • ✓
Domain HealthYour site answers cleanly over a secure connection, so a customer clicking through from Google lands where they expect with nothing in the way.
  • ✓
Domain UniquenessYour web address is yours alone, so everything your site earns - links, mentions, search standing - accumulates under your name and stays with the business.
  • ✓
FaviconThe tab your site opens in carries your own icon, so a customer with a dozen tabs going can find their way back to you by sight.

Top three opportunities

  • 1
Meta descriptionYour pages carry no summary line of your own, so the two lines under your name in search results are whatever Google decides best fits the search.
  • 2
On-page scoreSeveral checks on your home page fail at once, and a visitor meets all of them in the first few seconds: a slow open, no clear heading, nothing under your name in search that says what you do.
  • 3
Page titleThe headline on your home page is either a single word or long enough that a search result cuts it off part way through.
