Your Google listing

Forage and Clay shows a solid Google Business presence with a healthy level of complete basic fields, and strong phone and website links. Overall health is 4.8 out of 10, indicating room for improvement, especially in visuals and branding. Key strengths include a claimed listing and visible open status, with a clear business title and contact option.

Strengths

  • ✓
Open statusYour listing shows the business as trading, so customers see accurate availability and Google treats the listing as live.
  • ✓
ClaimedYour listing is claimed, so you control what it says, you can reply to reviews, and edits suggested by the public come to you first.
  • ✓
NameYour business name is showing on the listing, so a customer searching for you by name finds you, and everything else on the listing hangs off it.

Top three opportunities

  • 1
LogoYour listing has no logo, so in a list of local results yours is the one with a blank space where every competitor has a mark.
  • 2
Description lengthYour description gives a reader less than half the listings here do, so someone reading yours and then a competitor's gets less to go on from you.
  • 3
Photos on the listingYou have fewer photos than nearly every business here, so a customer comparing you against them builds a picture of their work and guesses at yours.

Your reviews

Forage and Clay shows a healthy Google review profile with an 8.0/10 health score, indicating solid performance and room to grow. The business has achieved a top-10% star rating and is actively engaging with customers, supported by a strong response rate. The focus now should be on expanding review volume while maintaining high satisfaction.

Strengths

  • ✓
Star ratingYour rating is among the highest in this market and it does its own selling - a customer sees it before they read anything else.

Top three opportunities

  • 1
Review countYour review count sits well below what buyers here are used to seeing, which means a customer comparing options side by side reads you as the less proven choice.
  • 2
Review confidenceYour rating and your review count together sit behind half the businesses here, so a customer weighing three listings has slightly less reason to trust yours.
  • 3
Response rateYou answer nearly all your reviews, which is more than almost anyone in this market, and a customer reading the page sees a two-sided conversation rather than a scoreboard.

I LOVE that you stock Nomu matcha now! Are you able to please tell me whether you stock matcha chawans in store as I can’t see them on the website and how much they are please :) such a cool wee store.

Response from the owner3

We love it too! We do stock handmade chawans. The website is currently being updated but if you’d like a picture of what handmade sets we have in store let me know :-)

This shop is absolutely amazing and the creativity these ladies show is brilliant. They should feel so proud of all their stock. I had a really lovely friendly person serve me, thankyou.

Response from the owner

Thanks Annie, we feel pretty lucky to have created such a special little place for people to shop local.

Where you show up on the map

Forage and Clay in Rangiora shows a low overall Google Maps health score of 2.1 for its performance. The business already ranks for several flower and dried flower related terms, with top results including flower designer and florist queries in Rangiora. The main opportunity is to improve both the aggregate and borough-specific maps presence to lift visibility and attract more local customers.

Strengths

Your first one is close. Sort an opportunity below and it moves up here.

Top two opportunities

  • 1
Maps visibility across the city groupYou turn up across fewer of the surrounding suburbs than half the businesses here, so someone two suburbs over searching for your service is shown your competitors and never sees your name.
  • 2
Maps visibility in your own suburbYou show up in local Maps searches, but below most businesses in your suburb, so a customer looking from a nearby street is shown someone else first.

Where customers find you

Forage and Clay shows a below-average overall health score for citations and social presence, with room for growth across several platforms. The strongest current asset is the Instagram profile, which already has a very high trust score and active engagement, suggesting content and branding are on point. Immediate attention should be given to increasing activity and profile presence on other channels.

Strengths

  • ✓
Instagram ProfileWe found your Instagram Profile page, and the trail between you and it is unambiguous - it is linked from something you own, or it dominates a search for your name.

Top three opportunities

  • 1

Your Facebook page

Strengths

  • ✓
Where your page link pointsThe link on your page goes to a domain that is yours, so a visitor who came for the photos leaves on your terms and the enquiry lands in your inbox rather than someone else's.
  • ✓
An email addressCustomers can see an email address on the page, which gives the one who wants a quote in writing a route that does not depend on anyone picking up the phone.
  • ✓
A street addressA street address sits in your page details, so someone deciding between you and a business two suburbs over can see which of you is closer.

Top three opportunities

  • 1
Recommendations on your pageNo recommendations sit on your page, so a stranger who came to see whether anyone else has used you leaves with only your own posts to go on.
  • 2
People following your pageFewer people follow your page than most in this market, which means a post reaches people who already know you rather than anyone still deciding.
  • 3
A page address you choseYour page address is one Facebook generated rather than one you chose - your business name with a long number bolted on, or just the number.

06Your websiteMarketbase business report

Your website

Forage and Clay shows average on-page SEO health, with a score of 5.1 out of 10. The homepage load time is already under 3 seconds, which benefits user experience and crawl speed. Key strengths include fast loading; critical gaps include missing or weak meta elements and favicon, plus a low on-page SEO baseline that needs establishing.

Strengths

  • ✓
Domain HealthYour site answers cleanly over a secure connection, so a customer clicking through from Google lands where they expect with nothing in the way.
  • ✓
Domain UniquenessYour web address is yours alone, so everything your site earns - links, mentions, search standing - accumulates under your name and stays with the business.
  • ✓
Page load speedYour home page appears in under three seconds, so someone tapping through from a search result meets your business rather than a blank screen while they decide whether to wait.

Top three opportunities

  • 1
On-page scoreYour home page did not return anything we can measure, and a page that will not answer a scanner is usually the same page that keeps a customer waiting.
  • 2
Meta descriptionYour pages carry no summary line of your own, so the two lines under your name in search results are whatever Google decides best fits the search.
  • 3
Page titleThere is no headline set on your home page, so the clickable blue line in a search result falls back to your domain name or a scrap of code.

07Google search and trafficMarketbase business report

How people find you on Google

Forage and Clay shows a respectable overall health for website traffic, indicating a stable base but room for focused gains in paid activity and SERP visibility. The top findings point to paying for traffic still lacking and paid keyword coverage, while organic traffic value remains solid and improving. Addressing paid campaigns and paid SERP tests could lift overall performance.

Strengths

Your first one is close. Sort an opportunity below and it moves up here.

Top three opportunities

  • 1
What that traffic is worthThe search visitors reaching your site are worth less than most businesses here, which means the work coming in arrives through word of mouth and repeat customers rather than through people searching for what you do.
  • 2
What you spend on adsWe can see no paid search activity for your site, which in most local markets is the norm rather than a gap.
  • 3
Monthly ad visitsYour site receives no visitors from paid search, which for most local businesses in this market is the norm rather than a problem.

08Opening hoursMarketbase business report

Your hours against demand

Forage and Clay's opening hours partly match local demand: 40 weekly open hours coincide with peak search times, notably mid-day Thursday and Saturday afternoon. Significant gaps remain: 49 peak-demand hours are closed, especially Sunday early afternoon and Saturday mid-afternoon. No open hours fall in low-demand windows, so current schedule is efficient but could capture extra sales by opening a few high-demand weekend hours.

Strengths

Your first one is close. Sort an opportunity below and it moves up here.
