Connecting Your Business to Marketbase

Connecting your business to Marketbase takes a few minutes, and you do not set anything up. Your market has already been checked, so there is nothing to install, no accounts to link and no passwords to hand over.

This guide walks you through the steps, what to pick when your business sits in more than one trade, and what is waiting for you on the other side.

In this article

  1. 1. Start from your free report
  2. 2. Sign up and pick your business
  3. 3. Your market, and why it is already there
  4. 4. What you see straight away

Start from your free report

Search for your business by name. Your free report shows what is working, what could move and where you stand, with nothing asked of you. When you want the how, open your free 7 days from the report.

Coming from your report saves a step. We carry your business through sign-up, so it is already chosen for you when you get there.

Sign up and pick your business

Sign up with your name, email and a password, or use your Google or Facebook account. If you sign up with an email, we send you a link to confirm it. There is no card to enter.

Next comes one screen: select your business. If you came from your report it is already selected. Otherwise, start typing its name and choose it from the list, which shows each business with its address so you can tell similar names apart.

Tip

Search by the name on your Google listing. If you trade under a different name from your company name, use the one customers see on Google. That is the name we hold.

Your market is already there

Your market is your trade in your city. A physio in Hamilton is measured against the Hamilton physios a local would choose between, not against clinics in Queenstown. You do not tell us who your competitors are, because every business in your trade and city has already been checked.

Some businesses fit more than one trade, such as a clinic that is both beauty and health. When yours does, the select screen asks which market you want, and that choice decides who you are measured against.

Picture this

An illustration, not a real business. A nail technician in Tauranga reads her free report one evening and opens her 7 days from it.

Her salon is already selected when she lands on the select screen, so she presses Continue. Her overview opens with her Health, her rank among the Tauranga nail salons and a check across every area, all from the same market her free report came from.

What you see straight away

You land on your Business Overview, already filled in. It opens on your Health, your Market Rank and your Progress, then a check across every area with a short written summary of each and a door to its report.

Your roadmap is in the menu on the left. The first time you open it, press Write my roadmap and it is written while you wait. It gives you up to five things to do now, in order, each with the steps to sort it or an offer to handle it for you.

Key point

Your market is checked again about once a month. When an area has not been measured yet, it says so and fills in on the next update. A measured zero is shown as a zero, never hidden.

Your first steps

5 minutes today

  • Find your free report and open your 7 days from it
  • Confirm your email, then select your business and press Continue

15 minutes this week

  • Read the check on your Business Overview, area by area
  • Open your roadmap and sort its first priority, or hand it to us

Ongoing this month

  • Work down your roadmap, ticking each task as you finish it
  • After your market's next update, refresh your roadmap to see what moved

If you cannot find your business

Search uses the name on your Google listing, so try that first, then a shorter part of it. Still nothing usually means your trade or town has not been checked yet. Get in touch and a real person will look into it.

New here? Welcome to Marketbase covers what we do in a few minutes. Then find your free report, and sort it yourself, or we'll do it for you.
